Spreading the Happiness happened today in Reception class when one of our school Governors came along with a special gift for all the children after all the Happiness they have spread. Thank you very much. The children loved it.
The Dungeons were thrilling! Safe to say the children got their own back on the teachers!!!! ?? Back to YHA now for tea and activities! Then hot chocolate and biscuits before bed.

Year 1 have been looking at Robots. Some children have made their own brilliant robots for home learning, and some children have brought robots in from home to show us! Well done everyone! ??

A part of our work on materials, the children in Year 2 were challenged to make a cup to hold water out of an ordinary piece of A4 paper. After our first test, Olivia suggested that our cups leaked because they were not waterproof. Here we are experimenting how to make a waterproof cup.

Year 5 had a super time on their maths trail. We surveyed cars, chalked calculations, measured area and perimeter and worked out the range between the fastest and slowest runner!
A Roman soldier stopped by to visit year 3 today. He taught us a lot about Roman life, including how to fight!

What an exciting way to start school with a special assembly to begin our Wow Maths week next week. Here are just a few things that have happened so far in assembly and in Receptions and Year 1s workshop. More to follow later in the day.
Year 5 had a fantastic afternoon being real Historians. We had to dig for artefacts and sort through rubbish looking for clues. We even have a Greek temple in progress. Year five are also having a Greek day- can’t wait!
We are looking for a local business to sponsor a new football team kit for us. We want to look professional at competitions. If anyone has any links to companies that would be willing, please let Mrs Toor or Miss Nutter know. Thank you ?

Celebrating the end of Year 2 SATS
Year 6 ‘Vikings’ invaded classrooms and Mrs Walker’s office. We stole treasures and captives! They all loved it! (All of the other classes were told before the invasion that Year 6 were playing at being Vikings?).
Just in time for the holidays the first few butterflies decided to make an appearance. The children each enjoyed holding them in Reception and then did some lovely writing about their experience.

Gisburn Road enjoyed hosting the hockey match ? tonight for the local schools. Unfortunately due to the weather we had to play the matches along with a few games inside but that didn’t stop the fun. Everyone played really well and we came in joint 1st place. Well done to everyone who took part.

Year 5 have been learning Yellow Submarine to spread the happiness. We’ve been singing it today with instrumental accompaniment.

Year 3 had a fantastic time at Gazegill Organic Farm. We made our own organic ice cream, found out all about the animals, visited the polytunnels to learn how plants are grown, and even learnt a little sign language! What a great trip!
