The Iron Man has been to visit year three! They had a lot of brilliant questions to ask him!

Year 1 have been busy planting with Friends of Gisburn Road as part of their topic work. They will be having a plant sale at the end of term. Watch this space.
The whole school had a fantastic day today with the author Caryl Hart. We enjoyed an interactive assembly and then class workshops. The children have been very inspired!
Year 4 have had great fun today meeting Caryl Hart and working hard writing our own Albie adventure stories! Ask us about the adventures we took Albie on in our stories!
Today’s adventure included having to walk the plank. We had to avoid the sharks and the pesky pirate (Miss Nutter). The children had so much fun and loved the twist at the end of the tale. Can they tell you what happened to Miss Nutter?
We are very excited to welcome the author Caryl Hart to our school tomorrow. Don’t forget she will be signing and selling copies of her books straight after school.

Reception have enjoyed their first day learning about pirates. Have they told you their new name?
So the children have finished for half term and the classroom has been transformed from Winter Wonderland to Land Ahoy, ho ho ho it’s a pirates life for me.

Year 5 had a super science afternoon exploring gravity. We also designed, made and then tested parachutes.
Year 3 have been experimenting with cave painting. We painted using sticks, stones, feathers, bones and our fingers, just like cave people! We also made our own paint using coal dust and water.
Year 4 have been exploring the effect sugar has on our teeth in our science work! We found out about how sugar can damage our tooth enamel and cause tooth decay using eggs to help us!
Year 6 have been working hard, planning some Fundraising events so we can pay for our professional ‘Class of 2017’ DVD. We are very excited! Although a lot of the events involved challenging the teachers ??
Reception have had fun exploring ice. They were given a challenge in looking after an ice cube and not losing it. Their faces were priceless when they didn’t have an ice cube to give me back.

In Reception today we have been learning to work out one more than a given number. We used a number line in the hall to jump along. Some children even tried working out two more.

The Year 6 gardeners and their Reception seeds all enjoyed getting creative on their over sized blank canvas today. They even stayed to join us in a healthy snack.
The nursery children experimented with a roll of wallpaper… who knew there were so many learning opportunities and creations that could be made with paper!

Year 3 have been busy creating animal cave paintings using oil pastels. All the class enjoyed drawing but they were a little surprised when they finished and Mrs Baptie asked them to scrunch up their drawings and rip the edges! It will all make perfect sense, though, when the results are posted tomorrow.
Year 1 enjoyed sharing their innovated stories of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ with their friends in Reception.

Year five had fun doing a jelly race with chopsticks today. We also found out about friction and used some scientific vocabulary to describe what it is.
Reception have been busy in their Literacy learning the story ‘One Snowy Night’. They used talk for writing to help them retell it. This is just the beginning.
Year 6 have been sketching superheroes with a focus on using line to create muscle definition. Some impressive art work! We are building skills to design our own superheroes! You’d better watch out for their super powers! ??⚡️☄️??
