|We have some exciting events planned for Year 6 to celebrate their time at Gisburn Road School as the term comes to a close. Unfortunately, this year, due to Covid, we cannot go on our usual residential trip to York but I have tried to make it as fun as possible (Covid rules allowing!).
To start off with, the children will soon receive their Class of 21 Leavers hoodies. They will be allowed to wear these as uniform for the last half term in replace of their jumper/cardigan.
Tues 29 & Wed 30 June – We will be performing the play ‘Puss in Boots’ which you may have already heard about! We plan to perform this to families towards the end of June and will give details nearer the time.
Friday 9 July – Whitehough Activity and Outdoor Centre for an extended day, 9am-9pm. Whitehough is an outdoor activity centre where the children will enjoy outdoor activities and team building games. A more detailed letter and consent form will follow. This trip is subsidised by Burnley Football Club and is therefore reduced from £50 per child to £29.50 per child.
Tuesday 13 July – Mario’s – We will be having a meal at Mario’s where the children can socialise together, and with teachers, in the restaurant.
Thursday 15 July – Year 6 Prom Night – We are having a Prom in the school hall where the children can get dressed up, enjoy mocktails, a photo booth, DJ, disco lights, balloons, cupcakes and much more!
We will be fundraising to contribute towards the activities planned and the children have come up with some fantastic ideas such as: washing teachers cars, a sponsored walk up Weets Hill, Guess how many sweets in a jar and many more super ideas! However, we will also be asking for voluntary contributions towards some of the activities planned as we will not be able to fundraise all of the costs.
