19th November 2020
Unfortunately, I am writing to you to inform you that a child in Year 3 has tested positive for Covid-19.
As directed by the Local Authority, all children in your class will have to self-isolate and stay at home for 14 days. This means that they cannot attend school for 2 full weeks.
Your child will remain at home from THURSDAY 19th NOVEMBER 2020 and will able to return to school on WEDNESDAY 2nd DECEMBER 2020. The last day of contact was Tuesday 17.11.2020
I understand that this is highly inconvenient and worrying but we must follow guidance and procedures in these circumstances.
Children are appearing asymptomatic (no symptoms at all), so if you have any concerns about your child’s health I would urge you to try and get your child tested. There is a testing station in Barnoldswick, which you can book online using the following link https://eastlancsccg.nhs.uk/covid-19-coronavirus/pendle-covid-19-testing-site
Some questions you may have:
- Can my child’s siblings still attend school? Yes, the local authority has said that siblings can still attend school unless they become symptomatic. However, if your child’s sibling is at risk due to other medical conditions, you may wish to keep the sibling at home too.
- Does the whole family have to self-isolate? No, unless you become symptomatic, then the whole household MUST self-isolate.
- Will my child be able to do school work? Yes, Mrs Fullalove (as long as she remains well) will be providing learning via Century every day for your child. You can contact your class teacher via the class page on the website https://www.gisburnroad.com/classes
- If I get my child tested and it is negative, can they come back to school? At present the answer is no as symptoms can develop at any point during the self-isolation period.
I understand that these are very difficult times and appreciate your patience and understanding.
The school office will be open from 8am tomorrow morning if anyone needs to speak to Miss Bond or myself. If you have any questions before then, please contact us via our Facebook page.
My very best wishes in these difficult times,
