Year 3 Trip to Harlow Carr on Thursday 3rd May 2018
Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful day in RHS Garden, Harlow Carr, on Thursday. We spent the first little while with Harlow Carr’s Education officers, Elizabeth and Barbara, who taught us all about pollination. They showed us which insects are pollinators and we learnt about the different parts of a flower. We even played ‘The Pollinator Game’, becoming bees with special head gear!
In Harlow Carr we saw many different species of plant life, trees and flowers along with some truly amazing sculptures made from willow, including giant insects and Roald Dahl’s BFG! One of our pupils described Harlow Carr as ‘paradise’ and we heard many ‘wows’ as we walked around this beautifully landscaped garden.
Before we left for home, we played on equipment made from natural materials and visited The Craggle Top Tree House. It was an awesome day from start to finish and, to top it off, the sun shone all day long!
Thank you to Harlow Carr, to all staff who came along for the day, to our wonderful year 3 children and to all parents who supported school for this visit.
