Tomorrow, we are having a special visit from world record Football Freestyler – John Farnworth, who is going to be visiting Gisburn Road for the day to link it with the football topic that we are currently learning in PE. John is a very inspirational person – he is the holder of 4 different records in the Guiness Book of World Records, he has completed the London Marathon by freestyling with a football for 26.2 miles without dropping the ball. He has freestyled with a football to the top of Mount Everest which he has called his toughest challenge to date. John also plays Theo Baines in the fictional children’s television programme on CCBC – Jamie Johnson and he also hosts CBBC Match of the Day Kickabout too.
John will firstly be doing a whole school assembly from 9:30-10am, showing off a range of his impressive skills. He will also be talking to the children and answering questions about his life and what he has done to help him achieve his goals – where he will be hoping to inspire the children to believe in themselves to reach their goals in the future. John will then be working with different classes throughout the day in workshops where he will be teaching the children different freestyle skills whilst working with a football at their feet.
On Friday, we kindly ask if your child could donate £1 and give it to their class teacher when they arrive in school. This donation will contribute towards paying for John. This will be a very exciting day for the children and something they should all thoroughly enjoy. We are hoping John can inspire the children to take up something they love and that if they stick at it, then they can achieve their goals!
Thank you for your continued support
