Well done to our Year 3/4 Athletics team who did great this afternoon at the West Craven cluster Athletics competition which was held at West Craven Leisure Centre. The children all underwent some throwing, jumping and running events and recorded some excellent scores! #teamwork ?♂️?♀️

Year 1 have been reading the story Little Red Riding Hood. We used ‘Talk For Writing’ to help us to remember the story and vocabulary used. The children have written their own innovated stories changing the ending and one of the characters. They read their innovated stories to Reception this afternoon.
Year 1 enjoyed running a mile today. They were all very excited about using the bands to count how many laps they could do and gave 100% effort. The children were praised for their fantastic behaviour and excellent manners. Well done Year 1!

Year 3 have been examining fossils very carefully as part of our Art work. They used magnifying glasses to look really carefully before sketching them. This week we used charcoal and other media to create larger versions of these fossils – it got a little bit messy!
Year 3 used a freeze frame activity to retell the story of Stig of the Dump. They knew all the key events and could act it out as well as write it. Ask the children what they were in the pictures.

Year 1 had a very special visitor today. The children were very excited to have breakfast with Santa and loved spending some time with him in class.
Big well done to all the children from Key Stage 2 who all completed their mile at Victory Park this morning during the Santa Fun Run. The children completed 4 full laps around the park with their Santa hat on their head. Well done everyone. Ho Ho Ho! ?

Children from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 really enjoyed their Boxfit sessions today during their Fitness Evolution taster day. A big thank you to Burnley College and the Fitness Evolution team for giving our children the opportunity to learn a new sport in PE. ?
Well done to the Year 5/6 children.who passed their Level 1 and 2 Bike Ability course last week, in the horrible weather conditions all week too! Also, a huge thanks to the Go Velo team for their fantastic coaching last week to ensure our children learnt how to ride their bikes safely.

Children in Need – Friday 16th November
Today we welcomed our parents into Nursery to see all the things we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We enjoyed marching, making poppies, watching our (cbeebies) War video and looking at pictures.
Year 2 are working hard this week in maths. Here we are drawing block graphs.
Children in Need Day 2018 is on its way. Friday 16th November we are all going to be wearing something yellow to show our support. ?
Year 4 have had an amazing time learning all about ‘chew to poo’ at Eureka!
We can’t wait to open doors to all our lovely parents next Friday from 2pm. We would really like all the children to dress up for the day in an outfit from the war period (either). #celebratinglearning

This week in nursery we have been learning all about the story ‘Pumpkin Soup.’ The children have enjoyed learning about what happens to Duck in the story. Yesterday we chopped up our pumpkins, and today we made our own Pumpkin Soup, it tasted delicious.

The Year 1 children have been using Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing to help them when writing an innovated rhyme. The children remembered the original rhyme so well they were able to independently write their own innovated rhyme in their extended write. Fantastic effort Year 1, well done!
Some of the Year 1 children have created fantastic Tudor houses in the holidays. We have displayed these outside our classroom for everyone to see. The children explained how they had made their houses and the materials they used. Well done, they all look amazing!!
