Today we presented Bosom Friends with a cheque for £163. Thank you to everyone who helps us support this amazing local charity.

A group of children from Year 4 have had a fantastic time this afternoon at Pendle Vale College! They have been working on their climbing skills- the challenge was to climb 10 metres ? Children in Need – Friday 16th November
Today we welcomed our parents into Nursery to see all the things we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We enjoyed marching, making poppies, watching our (cbeebies) War video and looking at pictures.
Year 2 are working hard this week in maths. Here we are drawing block graphs.
Children in Need Day 2018 is on its way. Friday 16th November we are all going to be wearing something yellow to show our support. ?
Year 4 have had an amazing time learning all about ‘chew to poo’ at Eureka!
We can’t wait to open doors to all our lovely parents next Friday from 2pm. We would really like all the children to dress up for the day in an outfit from the war period (either). #celebratinglearning

We are aiming to make our school more environmentally friendly by sending less paper copies home of letters and newsletters where possible. This week in nursery we have been learning all about the story ‘Pumpkin Soup.’ The children have enjoyed learning about what happens to Duck in the story. Yesterday we chopped up our pumpkins, and today we made our own Pumpkin Soup, it tasted delicious.

The Year 1 children have been using Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing to help them when writing an innovated rhyme. The children remembered the original rhyme so well they were able to independently write their own innovated rhyme in their extended write. Fantastic effort Year 1, well done!
Some of the Year 1 children have created fantastic Tudor houses in the holidays. We have displayed these outside our classroom for everyone to see. The children explained how they had made their houses and the materials they used. Well done, they all look amazing!!
A group of children from Year 5 & 6 had a great time this afternoon learning how to become a football referee on the MUGA. The children learnt what a referee wears during games, what they need to remember, the correct hand gestures, how to use a whistle and also how to use the flags…

The children in Nursery have enjoyed making pictures in the style of Kandinsky for our ‘Big Draw Day.’ We used different sized circles to make our pictures and the children were really good at deciding which circles were big and which were small.

Year 2 have been practising their tennis skills this week with Mr. Bradshaw.
This week the Year 2 children have been learning hoe to print. First we made printing blocks using our previous line drawings of the school. The results were quite impressive.

Our home grown pumpkins have had a make over! The children have been working hard with Miss Kitson and just look at what they have achieved ? ? I wonder where they got their inspiration??
A team of children from KS1 has a great time this afternoon at Fisher More High School taking part in an Orienteering Festival. The children had to use their maps to find the correct control card and numbers around the school hall. Well done!

Year 3 had a busy afternoon in Science. We were thinking about how our bones protect the organs in our body and the challenge was to make a structure to protect a chocolate teacake when dropped from a height.
Our Year 6 playground leaders enjoyed their training this morning and learnt lots of new skills/ideas to use for break and dinner time when they’re on duty. Year 2 have been busy today harvesting their crop of peas and broad beans from the raised beds in the infant playground and allotment. Our crop weighed over 10kg (not counting the ones we ate). We will be cooking and tasting next week.
We’ve had a good play on the park and we’re now walking home, getting showered and ready for an early night… hopefully!
Pizza Hut demolished. Now off to the park for a quick play before heading home for a shower and early night ready for Light Water Valley in the morning.
We survived the York Dungeons! Quick 30 mins chilling out before Pizza Hut at 5 and games in the park later.
