Today our Science challenge in Year 5 was to find out what the best insulator would be to keep our drinks nice and warm. The children chose their own materials and then tested them out using a thermometer to measure accurately.

Year 5 had a very interesting day learning all about the Anglo Saxons. We found out about who the Anglo Saxons were, the clothes, had a go at games they played and tried on some of the weaponry and armour.

Today we were lucky enough to receive a visit from SMJ Falconry as part of our habitats topic. Rhiannon showed the children owls, a kestrel and a peregrine falcon. The children asked some excellent questions and we learnt a lot about these fascinating birds of prey.

The ladies from Barnoldswick in Bloom came in this afternoon to help us with our planter which will eventually be moved next to the crossing by the Co-op. Our project this year is to create a vertical garden. The sun shone for us this afternoon while everyone worked really well together.

Year 3 have been working on the story ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Browne. We then wrote our own adventure stories based on it. They were so good we had to share them! Thank you Year 2 for visiting us and listening so well to our stories.
As part of our topic on ‘How does your garden grow?’ The children in Year 3 had to design and make a mini greenhouse in D.T. We looked at the properties of greenhouses, evaluated existing greenhouses, looked at stability and structure then designed and made our own. It was great fun!
Year 1 loved Sports Day last week. The children enjoyed all of the races and were very excited to see our special visitor from BFC.
Year 2 were busy today in the allotment. We planted out our broadbean and sweetcorn seedlings and looked for minibeasts in the various micro-habitats that we found at the allotment.
